Your investment guide

How much does a weddingin Cartagena cost?

Every couple asks us this first, so here is an honest answer: it usually depends on five things, and once you know them, the range is clear. Below you will find what drives the investment and a tool that gives you a realistic starting range for your vision.

What shapes the investment

1 · Guest count

The single biggest factor. Catering, bar, rentals, transport and seating scale with every guest. A wedding for 40 and one for 120 in the same venue are two different projects.

2 · Venue

A colonial house, a boutique hotel, a rooftop over the walled city, or a landmark like a cloister or a fortress carry very different fees, permits, personnel, minimums and production needs.

3 · Level of production

Flowers, lighting, furniture, music and design are where a celebration becomes unforgettable. The same courtyard can host a simple, elegant dinner or a full transformation.

4 · Type of celebration

One evening with ceremony and reception, a symbolic union followed by a celebration, or a full wedding weekend with welcome party, wedding and farewell brunch.

5 · Time of year

December to March and the mid-year holidays are peak season for hotels, venues and vendors. May, September and October are quieter and usually more flexible.

Imagine your wedding

Choose a few things about the celebration you picture. In return you get the range where weddings like yours usually begin. It is not a quote or breakdown, but an estimate based on events we plan and current vendor pricing: it is a starting point for a real conversation.

Questions about budget

Is a wedding in Cartagena cheaper than in the United States or Europe?

For the same level of celebration, usually yes, especially when it comes to catering, venues and staffing. A destination wedding also means considering your own travel and stay in Cartagena, along with the logistics of bringing your celebration to a new city. The real advantage is value: what a colonial courtyard, a historic church and a Caribbean sunset can bring to your wedding experience.

What does the planning fee cover?

Full planning: concept and design, venue and vendor selection and negotiation, budget management, logistics for you and your guests, legal or church guidance, timeline and coordination of the big day. You work directly with Itala, in English or Spanish, from the first call to the last dance.

Does the estimate include travel and hotels for our guests?

No. The ranges cover the celebration itself. We can help you secure room blocks and group rates in the walled city and coordinate transfers as an additional service, with those costs paid separately.

Can we do something beautiful with a smaller budget?

Yes. A wedding for 60 guests in a colonial house, with a beautiful ceremony followed by a memorable celebration, can be absolutely exquisite. The key is choosing where the investment matters most to you.

How far in advance should we reserve?

If you have your heart set on a particular venue, twelve to eighteen months is recommended to secure your preferred date. For other months, eight to twelve months is comfortable. Celebrations with a lighter production can often be planned in less time.
