Cartagena,the walled city

Colonial beauty · Caribbean soul · Timeless celebrations

A UNESCO World Heritage city on the Caribbean, with four centuries of balconies, plazas and courtyards. Few places in the world let you marry in a sixteenth-century church and dance under string lights in a colonial garden on the same night.

Places we love

The walled city and Getsemaní hold dozens of historic houses, convents, rooftops and gardens that host weddings. A few of the ones we return to:

Historic churches

San Pedro Claver, the Cathedral, Santo Toribio and more for religious ceremonies with centuries of history.

Colonial houses & boutique hotels

Restored mansions with inner courtyards, fountains and rooftops over the city for ceremonies and receptions.

Convents & cloisters

Grand cloisters and gardens for celebrations of a hundred guests or more.

Rooftops & sea walls

Sunset ceremonies over the Caribbean and the old city rooftops.

Gardens & courtyards

Intimate dinners under string lights, palms and tropical flowers.

The streets themselves

A parade with dancers through the old city after the ceremony is a Cartagena tradition.

Questions couples ask us

When is the best time of year to get married in Cartagena?

Cartagena is warm all year. The driest months are usually December to April; the evenings are the best time for outdoor ceremonies in any season. We plan around the calendar of the city so your dates avoid major festivals and conventions.

Can foreigners legally marry in Colombia?

Civil marriages are possible for foreigners depending on nationality; many couples choose a symbolic ceremony in Cartagena after a civil registration at home. We explain the options and timelines in our first conversation.

How far in advance should we start?

Most couples start between twelve and eighteen months before the wedding to secure the venue and the best vendors, especially for dates between December and March.

Do you work with couples who don't speak Spanish?

Yes. Most of our couples live in the United States, Canada and Europe. All planning, contracts and communication are handled in English or Spanish, whichever you prefer.

How do our guests get to Cartagena?

Rafael Núñez International Airport has direct flights from several US cities and connections through Bogotá, Medellín and Panama. We coordinate experiences, transfers and welcome events for your guests.
